Music ‘Legend’ to play first ever music dinner event at Aspire, Leeds

One of the biggest icons of the 70’s and 80’s will headline a Leeds venue’s first ever music dinner event.  MIDGE URE will perform to an intimate crowd at the Grade II listed building, Aspire, on Thursday the 1st of September 2016.

Midge enjoyed success in the 1970’s and 1980’s in bands including Slik, Thin Lizzy, Rich kids and Visage, and most notably as the frontman of Ultravox.  In 1984 URE co-wrote and produced the charity single ‘Do they know it’s Christmas?’ which has sold 3.7 million copies in the UK alone.  The song is the second highest selling single in UK chart history.

Tickets will be priced from £65, which includes a 3 course meal prepared by MasterChef finalist Tom Rennolds.

The evening will consist of a short set with music and anecdotes from Midge, plus a 3 course dinner.

Venetia Heaney, Managing Director of Aspire said ‘It’s fantastic to be able to host such a music legend at our venue and we are looking forward to watching Midge perform on the Aspire stage’.

Tickets will be available via SEE TICKETS or by calling 01132 368 368

Leeds’ premier event space Aspire is delighted to announce that Tom Rennolds finalist in BBC’s MasterChef 2012, has joined the Aspire kitchens in November 2012.

Rennolds, 27, from Silsden, Yorkshire, received training at Michelin starred restaurants and earned glowing praise from chefs such as Tom Kitchen, and Michel Roux Jr during the programme. Rennolds’ cooking mixes classic French with modern techniques to create original, innovative dishes with a heavy emphasis on local and seasonally sourced produce.

Tom’s final meal for MasterChef judges Gregg Wallace and John Torode was a starter of langoustines, a quail main, and a Yorkshire rhubarb pudding. Rennolds’ blend of classic and modern cuisine, using local ingredients in luxury dishes, will prove an ideal partner for Aspire, a grand, opulent events space housed in a former bank built in 1894 in Leeds City Centre.

Aspire provides a range of historic, luxury spaces for events such as weddings, conferences and dinners, which will now all have the potential to be catered for by one of Britain’s most exciting and innovative young chefs. Rennolds stated: “I am really excited to be working in the heart of Leeds city centre and especially at Aspire which is housed in such an exceptional building.

I have found a team and venue that share my ambition to create a very special and unique eating experience.” Venetia Heaney, Operations Director at Aspire commented: “We are thrilled that Tom will be working with us, we have been looking for a while for the right person to work alongside our Head Chef Abigail Cope to take our kitchens to the next level.

We can now provide exceptional fine dining experiences for parties of two upwards, set in a variety of exquisite rooms – some complete with open fires and opulent festive decorations – something which is unique in Leeds.”

Aspire are now taking bookings for Private Dining by Tom Rennolds and welcome any enquires from the press regarding interviews, features and restaurant reviews. Reservations can be made by telephone or by email.
